Mobile, house call, and location based services
Chicago, IL and surrounding suburbs
Originally named Little Steps, Big Strides For Pets, we realized we needed a name to better reflect what we were experiencing with our clients.
Clinically, we perform canine rehabilitation (like physical therapy for your dog). We want to help your pet become as strong as possible, so that you can enjoy your favorite routines and activities together again. But we realize, it's so much more.
We remember what it felt like when our own pets needed help. It can be stressful when your pet receives a new diagnosis, has a surgery, or just can't do what they used to.
During a recent phone call with a prospective client, whose dog had suddenly lost the use of his back legs, we talked about the challenges she was encountering, and how we may be able to help. She said, "you've given me hope". That meant so much.
In addition to our therapists, you can also call on our "Hope Ambassadors" - former and current clients who have cared for their own pets with mobility challenges. Sometimes, it just helps to talk to someone who has walked in your shoes.
Whether it's establishing new routines after a surgery or diagnosis, setting your house up for safety and success, learning how to help your pet get stronger and more mobile, or just talking with a pet parent who has been on a similar journey, we want you feel confident, empowered, and supported in your pet's rehabilitation and care. We want you to feel hopeful for all the good days ahead for you and your pet!

Jeanine has worked in the veterinary rehabilitation field for over 20 years. Beginning in 2002, she worked in veterinary rehabilitation clinics in the Chicagoland area for 10 years. Now, Hope Chicagoland Pet Rehabilitation continues to specialize in in home canine rehabilitation as well as location-based services, so that we can best accommodate every pet’s customized needs.
Jeanine is also passionate about all things cart related. Knowing how to select, measure, and fit a cart appropriately is essential for the animal's comfort, safety, and function with a cart. In addition to assisting countless clients with acquiring a cart over the past 20+ years, Jeanine also consults with other practitioners in the field to help address their cart fitting needs. Jeanine is also well versed in orthotics and rehab related equipment. This "wearable therapy" can be an asset to a rehab program when selected for and fit appropriately.
Jeanine has co-presented at national and international conferences including the Illinois Physical Therapy Association, the International Association of Veterinary Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy, and the American Physical Therapy Association on the topics of canine rehabilitation and using neurodevelopmental techniques in the canine population. She is a faculty member in the Canine IQ Transitional Canine Physical Therapist (tCPT) credentialing program. She and Lisa teach other physical therapists on rehabilitating canines with neurologic issues.
Jeanine has been honored to treat K9 police officers and therapy dogs. She has co-developed and co-presented seminars on health, wellness, and injury prevention of the K9 to canine police officers in Illinois. (Please inquire about discounts given to service animals and pets of first responders).
She is lucky enough to call what she loves to do “work”, waking up everyday knowing she has the best job in the world! If she won Mega Millions, she'd still do canine rehab everyday, she'd just build "Rosie's Place", her vision for a non for profit animal rehabilitation center.
Outside of working hours, Jeanine enjoys being a dachshund Mom, running (go team Run for ALS), reading (currently going through a phase on books about Navy Seals), and anything having to do with historic homes. Her ultimate goal is to see the aforementioned “Rosie’s Place” become a reality.
