“We help your dog enjoy more days and return to the activities they love! Specializing in IVDD, post op, carts, and more!”

Treatments

All treatment begins with a comprehensive 90-minute evaluation. Please see below for a description of our evaluations.

All treatments are 60 minutes and performed one on one with a physical therapist. Treatments are all inclusive, based on time, rather than modality.

This way, the physical therapist can determine what is best for your pet based on how they are presenting for treatment. This ensures that treatments are always customized and not “cookie cutter”.

Treatments may be comprised of a combination of the following modalities below:

Therapeutic Exercise

Therapeutic exercise is specific movement prescribed to correct impairments and restore function. Some exercises are designed to increase flexibility, correct posture, or increase strength. Exercises can be tailored through form, speed and resistance. Our therapeutic exercises are specifically tailored for your pet based on their individual evaluation results. All our therapeutic exercises are performed one on one with a physical therapist so that your pet’s response can be continually assessed and adjusted as needed during treatment.

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is using hands on techniques to treat soft tissues and joints. It may include massage, stretching, or joint mobilizations, just to name a few. Just like therapeutic exercise, manual therapy is prescribed based on our hands on assessment and specifically tailored to each pet based on their needs and therapy goals.

Laser Therapy & Other Modalities

Cold laser therapy (or low level laser therapy) uses low levels of light to treat acute or chronic inflammation or pain. It can also stimulate wound healing. It increases circulation to muscles, ligaments, and joints. It is painless, non-invasive, and stimulates healing. Laser therapy is beneficial after surgeries (post op IVDD, ACL, and more), during conservative treatment of IVDD and ACL injuries (and more), and for arthritis. It can be a helpful addition to many rehab programs.

Home Exercise Program

Home exercise programs are an essential part of any rehab program. Your pet spends most of its time at home with you. For this reason, teaching you simple, consistent activities and exercises to carry over at home is the best insurance that they will successfully meet their rehab goals.

Other Services we offer:

Free Phone Consultation

We believe our relationship begins from our first phone call. And we know you may have questions before you are ready to schedule an evaluation. Every phone consultation will be with one of our physical therapists, Jeanine, or Lisa. This allows us to “meet” you and your pet and learn about your goals and how we may be able to help.

Classes

Our therapists lead a variety of classes in group settings. Community classes are a great way to learn and meet other pet parents. Classes cover topics such as IVDD prevention, senior pets, and exercise for pets who use carts. We also offer classes to service and therapy animals.

We'd be happy to discuss an upcoming class with for your pet, rescue group, or service animal.

Orthotics/Custom Splints/Other Adaptive Equipment

Orthotics, splints and other adaptive equipment are “wearable therapy” and can help your pet carry over their rehab treatment outside of treatment time. Our therapists can consult on the type of orthosis needed, refer you to an orthotist when appropriate, custom make splints, and help you select other pieces of equipment.

Home Help Visits

Bridge visits were designed based on feedback we heard time and again from clients as well as based on our own experiences as pet parents. They bridge the gap between when you first come home after a new diagnosis or surgery, until formal therapy begins.

Our physical therapists will help answer such questions as, how do I hold my pet? How do I set up their space for ‘crate rest’? What is the best position for them? How do I take them out to potty? Or how often should I express their bladder? Am I performing range of motion the right way? How do we get in the car for our vet appointments? And many others.

Bridge visits occur in your home so that we can address the issues that you are facing day to day and help you to feel confident in establishing a new routine.

Evaluations

Our evaluations are up to 90 minutes long to allow ample time for a physical assessment, questions, recommendations, and home instruction so that you can immediately begin implementing your pet's rehab.

Our therapists will assess and biomechanically analyze your pet from nose to tail. We will use the results from the evaluation to develop a customized treatment plan, working with you to develop meaningful goals for your pet.

We welcome all questions! We want you to understand what we are seeing, how it impacts your pet, why we are recommending certain treatments, and how they can help you and your pet.

From determining your pet’s rehab goals to carrying over your pet’s home exercise program, you will be a teammate in your pet’s rehab journey, helping you and your pet to enjoy more days!

What happy pet parents had to say:

Our pawtients love us!

Jeanine is absolutely fantastic!! She comes to your home which was so important for us. When you have a dog that gets injured and is easily anxious going to a clinic it was a game changer to have someone come to your house - where they are more relaxed. She is amazing with our dog Rocco and he doesn’t always make it so easy. He has been a bit of a puzzle and she consistently goes above and beyond to figure out what he needs. I highly highly highly recommend her!

-Alyson

Jeanine is very thorough and patient. She did a great job with our dog and I would recommend her to anyone who has a dog with special needs. She is especially knowledgeable with dogs who are paralyzed and need equipment. She has been rehabbing dogs for over 20 years and we are so thankful that she could help us with our dog Caesar.

-Tom

We help animals with mobility impairments and intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) enjoy their favorite activities and routines with you again!
